iCloud is a online service, heavily relies on a client software to function. iCloud characteristics must be subtly integrated with Apple's current software to provide a consistent user experience and still deliver the benefits for users. These updates are designed to bring support to Safari and iCloud OS X itself.

10.7.2 Update Mac OS X comes days after update 10.7.1 who brought important fixes to several areas of OS X Lion, ranging from Wi-Fi for output video. 10.7.2 Update OS X, that was in testing phase for quite some time, simply is intended to provide a test environment for software iCloud, as specified by Apple's release notes:

This pre-release version of OS X Lion 10.7.2 is provided exclusively for testing iCloud and updates the public release of OS X and any seed earlier OS X Lion 10.7.2.

If you are already running any previous generation of OS X 10.7.2, you must run the "revisioner" included before you apply the update. The entire process should take a few minutes.

So actually OS X Lion support iCloud, users must install iCloud Beta for OS X Lion 8. This update removes all references to MobileMe, iCloud is the substitution and adds integration necessary for its built-in apps such as mail and calendar synchronization, making the email contacts, and calendar events easy.

Finally, Apple is also issuing a pre-release version of Safari 5.1.1 today developers only. This updated version of Apple's browser makes synchronizing bookmarks and read Listpossible with iCloud. There should be no change of additional functionality in this release.

A recording of the developer, which will set you back $ 99 a year, gives to all subscribers exclusive access to pre-release software, and development-oriented tools and documentation. A subscription can be obtained from the developer Developer Site of Apple.

iCloud, introduced in June at WWDC, is a new cloud-based service from Apple. It will include features that allow user data to be synchronized across multiple machines, which extends across several properties Apple OS X and iPhone apps. iCloud should be widely available this fall.
